What is Value Investing Almanack — And Why I’m Bringing It Back

Value Investing Almanack (VIA) was born in 2015 out of a simple desire: to create a space where timeless ideas on investing, decision-making, and life could live — without the noise of market predictions, stock tips, or hype.

When I first launched VIA, it quickly found a loyal readership. Hundreds of thoughtful investors and learners tuned in each month to read ideas that were driven by the enduring principles of great investors and investment thinkers.

We explored insights on investing and investment behaviour, business case studies, human psychology, and reflections on living a wiser, more meaningful life.

But in early-2021, I made the hard decision to pause VIA.

Life had become full in the best way. I had just published my first book, spending time with my family during the epidemic, and trying to live the very principles I was writing about. I didn’t want to reduce VIA to a rushed afterthought. It deserved better and, so, I stepped back.

But I never stopped thinking about it. And now, I’m bringing it back.

Why Now?

Because the world is louder than ever.

Investing content today is dominated by noise. Everyone seems to have a hot take, a price target, or a “must-buy” stock that will supposedly make you rich, and fast. Social media rewards urgency, not understanding. Clicks matter more than clarity. The long view is drowned out by the latest headlines.

But true investing wisdom is quiet, patient, and cumulative. It’s not about predicting the next move but preparing for the long game. That kind of wisdom needs time. It asks for reflection. It demands curiosity. And above all, it calls for humility to realize how little we actually know, and how much we still have to learn.

That’s what Value Investing Almanack has always aimed to be. A space, like a pause button, where investors could slow down. Think clearly. Reconnect with first principles. And revisit timeless ideas that don’t expire with market cycles.

And in this new chapter, it’s going to be even better. Because I’ve changed. I’ve learned more, from markets, mistakes, and from mentors (both real and on paper).

VIA will carry the same DNA as before — timeless, thoughtful ideas and honest reflections. But now, it will go deeper. It will pull in lessons not just from investing legends, but from philosophy, psychology, history, and life itself. It’s simply because investing well isn’t just about mastering spreadsheets but, more importantly, it’s about mastering yourself.
